The sound is amazing but the only thing I don't like about it is after wearing them after 1-2 hours they get really uncomfortable. They go on your ears and crush your ears over time. I would recommend Razer product but would recommend headphones that go over the ears.

I bought the Razer Piranha headphones when they were first released and immediately I was impressed.



Since this seems to be the biggest issue with these... I would not suggest wearing this headset for more than 4+ hours. These do get heavy and start to feel irritable to the ears, but not without being on for several hours. Then again most headsets are going to get uncomfortable at that point. Everyone's comfort level is different when it comes to headphones, and these are by far some of the most comfortable I've worn.



These are very sturdy! The wires are actually a little long in my opinion, so I have them tied to keep them from falling onto the floor. The lighting needs to be plugged into a USB port, but in actuality it's not a big deal with some of the gaming cases out today that have plenty of ports. I carry these around quite a bit to LAN parties and the like, and I've never had any problems with them getting near breaking point, they can take a punch. Unless you're being overly rough with them you shouldn't have a problem.



Sound quality. I'm a bit of an audiophile, and I can safely say it's pretty good, though not excellent. As another reviewer stated, it's for gaming, not really intended for music listening however they don't sound bad for just music or videos either. When I have these on I can't hear much noise pollution except for the game or music I'm listening to. Unless I have one side off on purpose of course.



The microphone is pretty good as well; I find that I have to turn my outgoing up on occasion, but in all reasoning it could be because of several factors when it comes to program and computer settings. People can hear me clearly and rarely catch any noises going on in the background. It has an in-line remote control with volume and microphone muting adjustments; the muting button is not easy to move so no accidents!



I've owned a lot of headsets from Logitech to Plantronics, and I can say these are some of the nicest I've owned.

Overview: the headset sounds nice, and is good for casual play, but not good at all for professional or avid gamers. I am buying a new set of headphones after a year because I'm tired of having to take a break every ten minutes because my ears hurt from the pressure. The sound will please most people, but not those used to higher-end headphones or in-ear 'phones for music. this headset, in my eyes, has a value of about $30 so if you find it for cheap you might like it but I don't think I would buy it even then, the thing is very uncomfortable and even painful after about twenty minutes.



Sound: the sound quality is good, but not fantastic, this is definitely not a headset for avid music listeners, as the sound isn't really true to what you'd want for music, this is a headset completely made with gaming in mind. explosions, gunfire, and steel on steel sounds way better than music does with this headset. The sound goes from a moderate, comfortable volume to a really loud volume, though not quite painfully loud. this headset does not need an amp to work fine. This headset also picks up very little noise compared to other headphones, the signal isn't impeded by any noise, even on most onboard sound cards.



Microphone: the mic is good, but not fantastic, again it's made with gaming in mind, the mic itself is very quiet even though the sound coming from the pads is quite loud, it's on an adjustable, semi-bendable boom coming from the left side, and has no filtering foam on it. if a software microphone amplifier is used on a recording of the mic it can and probably will sound sibilant (where everything with a "t" or "s" sound is prominent). The mic is not for the very quiet, several times I've had to raise my voice to a louder level just to be heard through the mic by other players. Having the USB cord plugged in at the same time as the mic cord seems to help a little, but not much.



Build Quality: the headset is sturdy and will last awhile (mine has lasted for over a year with no problems whatsoever, and I am not gentle with it) the ends of the cord are separated about four feet from the minijack and usb plugs, those cords are all sturdy and won't give out. I braided the separate cords except for the last five inches or so both to protect the cords and to keep the ends from tangling, it works very well. after the seperation the cord is covered by some form of nylon shoe-string-esque covering, it's tough and will not tear, this goes all the way up to the left ear-cup where it is attatched to the headset. about two feet from the headset there is a volume dial/mic switch. the low end of the volume dial is the on side for the mic switch. be careful when using the headset because both the volume dial and the mic switch like to flip easily.



Comfort: this headset is comfortable for about 15 minutes, then the pressure starts to hurt one's ears, the headset in a relaxed position has about two inches or so between ear pads (at the smallest size setting) the headset is made to pull apart, sure, but the pressure crushes the ear against one's head, meaning if you have glasses, like myself the back of your ears will hurt unless you adjust your glasses. after about thirty minutes of use, the headset's ear pads will have crushed your ears quite well, and any movement of the headset will be painful. when the headset is taken off I do not recommend putting in-ear headphones on, your outer and mid-ear will thank you for not.

The Razer Piranha Stereo gamiing headphones is the most disappointing purchase I've made through Amazon. It comes with a USB connector and two 3.5 mm connectors for the headphone and microphone. I've tried using it with my Macbook Pro and Ipod. The microphone does NOT work using either the mini-jack or the USB connector. The audio input ONLY works using the mini-jack. So you're paying $57+ for headphones that cannot be used either for gaming or VoIP. The "durable braided fiber cable" forks into flimsy wires that connect to your computer or mp3 player. The wires in the headset I received may have broken at the factory. The unit was obviously not tested before being packaged and shipped. The headset, itself, is not nearly as comfortable as some of the reviewers lead you to believe. I can't imagine wearing this for more than an hour at a time. The best feature are the ear pods that glow blue when connected. Can I get my money back?

I have always had trouble keeping my mouse on the mouse pad due to "overshoots". Mostly that's due to my multi-monitor setup - so I'm jumping from monitor to monitor in big, sweeping moves. I've tried adjusting the controls of the mouse to allow me to move from one monitor to the next without going off the mouse pad or lifting the mouse from one side of the mouse pad and replacing it on the other and then continuing the "sweep" - but I lose the "fine motor control" over the mouse that I need. So, I figured out that what I really needed was more mousing area. This thing grips the desk so it doesn't move one iota as you mouse over it. I'm not a gamer - so I'm not going to rate it in that respect. But, my opinion is that it would stand up to ANY kind of aggressive mousing. It's fairly thick - about 3/16" - but that seems to help with this pad. The top surface is fairly textured, so the optical mice really track well.

This Mouse pad is awesome. I bought it for FPS games and then put it to the test in several general use categories; creating lengthy word docs, designing websites, video & photo editing and more. Having an oversized mouse pad with this quality texture glide to it is simply far better than any other mouse pad I have ever used in the past. The only thing that I could do without is the company and brand name 'Razer Goliathius' stamped at the bottom left hand corner. It's too expensive of a mouse pad to have this here; though some people may like it I could do without it. I do really like the Razer Logo in the upper right hand corner, it's subtle. Make a note. Razer has 2 similar oversized mouse pads one with a smooth texture and one with a rough texture: Be sure you get the one you want. I own one of each. I like the feel of the smooth one better for doing everything and enjoy FPS gaming with the rough textured version.

Don't make the same mistake I did, however. I thought I was getting the largest edition when in fact this one is the second-largest; it's a little ambiguous. Nevertheless, I am very happy with it.

 "Razer Mako Delivers Great Sound" 2010-01-10

My review is broken into three parts. Quick Take, A Bit More, and a Detailed Rant. I just want those who are considering this computer speaker system to get the level of detail that meets their needs.



Quick Take

This computer speaker system is very good. One of the best, if not the best, in its price range. It is very comparable to the Bose Companion 5 yet much less expensive. The control pad works very well. The Razer Mako is a very stylish system. I highly recommend this system. I've owned it a week and always update my reviews when products break so look at the date of my review and if I've not added any new information, then it is still working fine.



A Bit More

I mentioned the control pad works well, but it takes a day or two of use to get used to how to use it. I find it best to put my finger where I want to have the sound level and the bars will move to my finger. The bars start out blue but once the dial gets to, say, about 10 o'clock the bars turn red up to about 12 o'clock. Say the bars are at 9 o'clock and you want to turn the volume down to 7 o'clock. I just put my finger at 7 o'clock and the blue bars quickly move down to that point on the dial. This actually works really well and once you get it down, the dial is fantastic. There are more features than other comparable systems. Control pad also controls bass output, other systems have bass output controlled on the sub-woofer, which means getting down on the floor. The Mako system has two inputs that are user selectable from the control pad. This means you can set up the system to work off your computer and a second sound source. One input is a standard computer 3.5mm jack, the other input is RCA jacks which are standard jacks for many audio systems. Switching between the two inputs is done from the control pad. The control pad has an input as well so you can easily plug an MP3 player into the input there and the system will automatically to that input. You need a male-to-male cable though which is something you'll need to buy. The control pad has a headphone jack as well. This is similar to a few of the better computers speaker, including the Bose Companion 5.



Detailed Rant

I must get on a soapbox for a minute. This is one of the best COMPUTER speaker systems I've heard. However reviewers here and speaker manufacturers, including Razer, throw out terms like audiophile quality or high-end speakers for computer speakers. For those who own true audiophile quality equipment, you'll know little speakers on desk tops aren't going to compete with real audiophile equipment. Added to that fact, is the fact that an audiophile system is running a CD player and some sort of integrated amp or amp-preamp combo that will be close to $1,000 and often a fair amount more. Your computer, on the other hand, will have a CD-RW worth about $100 and an audio card that is probably $10-50. If that is not enough, people who know better realize that even CD technology which was invented in 1982 and uses a 16 bit rate does not do the best job of playing back music. That is why vinyl records are still going strong. But lets make it worse; iTunes or other MP3 music, has a lot of data removed so that a song can fit on a little iPod like device and be downloaded over the Internet without taking a lot of time. So what we are all doing is listening most of the time to a badly watered down MP3 version of a song, playing through a dirt cheap sound card, and coming out of little desktop speakers. Computer systems are not really set up to deliver high quality audio, period. Why people try to make that comparison is beyond me but it is like trying to convince someone that a $18,000 Honda Civic is every bit as great as a BMW 5 Series. Just about everyone would laugh at a comparison like that, so the comparisons of computer speakers with audiophile equipment are just as laughable. As an aside, I recommend still buying CD's and then recording them into your iTunes so you get the benefit of both worlds and having the higher quality CD for home and the ability to play music on a pocket sized device as well.



What the best computer speaker systems can to is sound fairly natural, with good definition, and sound smooth and clean from the lowest lows to the highest highs. They can also have a good dynamic range meaning that quiet sections of music are really quiet and loud sections are good and loud. The subwoofer should have good punch and be tight, but never boomy. The subwoofer should almost never bring attention to itself. That means the sound between the desktop speakers and that big one on the floor integrates well and sounds as one. If you get all these things out of a computer speaker system, you've gotten everything you should expect. Nothing more.



The Razer Mako is a great system for its intended use. But if there is a short coming, it is a slight lack of crispness in the high end where cymbals lack a little bit of zing. The Ground Plane technology does help give a surround sound feeling. Watching an episode of Glee, a scene on the football field had sounds placed well to the left and right of my seat making fans in the stands sound way over to the side. However, that large scale did not seem real for a small jazz ensemble. The spread of sound in this case seemed slightly out of place. At times, the sound seems ever so slightly processed. For music that is heavily synthesized the sound seems very good. However, on orchestral music, the sound seemed slightly unnatural. I am being overly critical. Even after saying these things, I can, with confidence, say this is about the best sounding computer system speaker I've heard and I've listened to a lot of them. Considering the great price, the Razer Mako sounds better than it has any right to sound. I have no regrets with my purchase.



One other item that was important to me was to have a speaker system that would not take up any more room on my desk. Most speaker need to be put to the left and to the right of the monitor so that the speakers are not covered. The Razer Mako speaker grills are along the bottom of the speaker. As you can see from the pictures, I've added. I've placed the speakers behind my iMac. Placed here, they are out of the way and sound great.



Razer is a company best know for their gaming accessories. With an image that appeals to teenagers, it is possible to see the Mako as something better suited to gaming or teenagers. In truth the Razer Mako should be considered by discerning adults too and can go up easily against the more button-up appeal of the Bose system. The initial list price of the Mako was about $400. I think the goal was to compete directly with the Bose Companion 5 and that comparison is a good one. But at its current price, the Mako is truly a great deal. If you enjoy good quality sound, the Mako delivers in spades.

Hello everyone and I am techie. So one cannot say I do not know things. Way back when I was in India I used to have Just Ordinary Speakers. To make them more bass, I brought a pot made of mud placed the speakers inside it and drilled holes on the top of it. The sound Quality used to be amazing and if anyone is from India and reads my review they will surely Understand that. Anyways , for me the best part was Bass Isolation. Its just that Tweeters got to do their job and woofer got to do its job. The moment I turned on these speakers, i was really blown off by sheer sound Quality. I have seen speaker designs with vertical sweep which is just those normal speakers, caged in those boxes. But I don't know as how many of you have realized that to produce a 3-d sound effect we need 2 -axis .vertical and horizontal. The sheer design of these speakers would infarct deliver that. And best of all, i hear sound for 270 degrees given 90 for the setup of the output and stuff. I was very very very happy with the way the speakers delivered the sound. I seriously dont understand when people write that the control was funky. It could either be that they have not paid close attention to the manual or their could be faulty ones or they did not plug in properly. But for me personally, the control was awesome. Well I have no complaints. I simply like it since I tend to choose always the best based on design rather than price.



Even on carper this system produced excellent sound and I guess few of my friends are more inclined to buy this system now.

I was looking for a good set of 2.1 speakers which would complement my thinkpad and truly give me great sound. I owned the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 and Creative 4.1 4100 before and decided to replace them with the Razer's Mako.



I am not disappointed at all. Though they are 2.1 speakers the technology that THX incorporated into them truly makes them well worth the price. It's not only loud at 300 Watts but increadibly clear. The idea of down firing satelites with their own amplifier was a stroke of genius. They sound crisp and I can guarantee that you may forget it's not a 5.1 speaker system level. Besides they look gorgeous on a desk.



However, I would also suggest a good pcmia soundcard (ex. Creative). With such a crisp, clear speaker system it does make a differece in bass.

I've owned several pairs of headphones and by far these are the most comfortable. The cord doesn't get tangled up like some of the other brands I've used. The case is a little big and the airplane adapter is a nice touch.



The base response on these is very good. They are so light and the sound when playing games is great.

Great mouse pad... Feels slightly rough to the hand, but my Razer Deathadder mouse glides across it like butter! The texture allows your palm and pinky figer to get a nice grip, while you can easily move the mouse around with little effort.

I play mostly CSS and this pad helped me aim even better! (old mouse pad slid around a lot, this one stays put like glue!)

The only bad thing about it is that the cross groove texture makes it easy to get a lot of crumbs and stuff on the mousepad. I keep my desk pretty clean, but for chip-a-holics, (and if you use an old ball mouse for some reason...) this could be a small problem... Overall great mousepad!

Cons:

This may not apply to you, but I HATE mouse acceleration and I really like high sensitivity. The Mac software that comes with it says that it should turn off acceleration, it simply doesn't. Even at the highest sensitivity, the mouse still is too slow for me. Both system settings and other software offer much faster sensitivities, so I don't know why they limit it.



I still use the mouse, but I went back to the USBOverdrive software control as it does what the included software SHOULD do.



Note: I used to the MS sidewinder gaming mouse and this mouse performs better with USBOverdriver than the MS Sidewinder mouse does. So I would buy the mouse again, but feel like I'm overpaying a bit since their control software doesn't do what it should do. But then if you like acceleration and a lower sensitivity, then you're set!

The DeathAdder is a great mouse for the price, but it's not as great as I understood from the product description. I wondered how so many features could be offered for such a low price, and now I know. (I use the DeathAdder with a Mac, OSX 10.6, so some details may differ on Windows.)



The DeathAdder's "programmable" buttons are limited to choosing from a hard-coded list of keyboard strokes (12 function keys, 8 cursor control keys, escape, space, tab, enter, and delete) and key combinations (cut, copy, paste, undo, redo, quit, switch application, minimize window and two Mac-specific combinations). You can't even set the buttons to act as any other key or key combination, much less program a menu item or sequence of keys.



Also, the DeathAdder's ability to change DPI settings is limited to switching between 800, 1200, and 1600. I wanted a setting below 800 for increased precision, and something I read had given me the mistaken idea that I could switch between 3 user-programmed DPI settings.



Apart from those disappointments, my first 24 hours show the DeathAdder to be an excellent product. I expect to use the DeathAdder as my primary mouse for the foreseeable future, but if I had it to do over again I would buy a more expensive -- and more programmable -- mouse.

I bought a Mac Mini and wanted a mouse that worked with my pc and mac together with a kvm switch. I found the perfect match with this Razer Death Adder Mac edition. I also have a Logitech illuminated keyboard and it also has white leds so both this mouse and the keyboard match perfectly. I got tired of the blue leds most keyboards have and the red is too much. I think the white is the perfect balance and looks very elegant. The software works perfect on my mac and is really necessary to make all the buttons do what I want. This mouse works perfectly with no software on the pc for my needs.

I was thinking of buying either the new Magic Mouse (which I tried at an Apple Store) or this mouse, and I went with the DeathAdder. I'm not a gamer - I bought it for web browsing and video editing. So I bought this mouse because it was cheaper, and it looked more comfortable.

Though it isn't cheap, I am very satisfied with it so far. It may be bigger than you think if you're thinking of the size of a normal mouse (one that comes with desktops). So it's not ideal for carrying around. But that means it's really comfy (surface feels solid, not cheap) and your hand can fully rest on it. The cord is pretty long, so if you're using MacBook Pro you might want to tie up the cord with the included cord band, or whatever it is called.

I'm using mine with 15" MacBook Pro, and surfing the web feels a lot different how that I'm sitting back and reaching the computer only for keyboard. I got really used to the multitouch touchpad and I thought this mouse may not be as fast as the touchpad when I need the mouse to move quickly across the screen. But I was wrong - it's definitely fast, and I'm guessing it's faster than the Magic Mouse at highest setting.

The included software for Mac is v1, and you can download v2 at the website. You can adjust sensitivity (x and y-axis if you'd like), turn on/off acceleration, white light at scroll wheel and body, and set how you want to use the buttons. I'm using the scroll wheel click for Show All Windows, and side buttons as go back/go forward (delete, shift + delete). You can set the buttons to change sensitivity (On-The-Fly), dpi, polling rate, etc.

I haven't peeled off the plastic cover at the bottom but it's working with no problem. Bottom of the mouse doesn't light up. At 1800dpi I feel it's as darn accurate as it can be for an average user like me.

Also, the scroll wheel - I was a little worried about getting used to the scroll wheel again. But I found scrolling through long pages to be fairly effortless, and in most cases you probably won't need to deal with scrolling through long pages.

As of now (end of day 1) I am completely satisfied with the mouse. I recommend getting a mouse pad (cheap one is fine) with it if you don't already have one.

like all pads, it wears after use. ive had it for about a year now. still holding up good. i have the small speed edition. seems to trap dust in it(take a damp washcloth and rub the surface to clean it).



very good paired with the deathadder! like i said its not as good as it used to be, but after all this time still preforms very well.



if you want a long term gaming pad, dont hesitate :)

This mouse pad is very thin, which makes it easy to use. It arrived rolled, but flattened out instantly. The surface is smooth, I'm sure it doesn't contain magical properties making it extra smooth, but it does work well.



After a month the edges are slightly frayed and discolored, but it would be something I would notice if I wasn't inspecting it.



I purchased one and a few weeks later another one when my original was 'stolen' by an office mate that just had to have one too. We are both very happy with them.

It's a mouse pad. It's not going to rock your world but it's well done. The surface has just the right amount of friction. It's cushioned enough for comfort and the non-slip bottom is effective. You can see the attention to detail and that it was designed by gamers. It's worth the money over the office store throw away mouse pad.

I use this pad. But to be frank I am not sure that it's rolling resistance is functionally much less than others. I will say that it seems to hold up better than other pads that I have used.
