"Excellent pc keyboard with trackpad" 2010-01-06
By David Cole
I have bought approximately 1 billion tech products; this is my first review. The Logitech Mediaboard was a wonderful product. Too bad it was discontinued so quickly. I use mine for many hours each day (writing this, for example). It is light weight, holds up well, good battery life, and above all it is VERY convenient to have trackpad and keyboard in lap, in bed, on couch - wherever. I normally use it about 6-8 feet from the computer. (A mouse is a pain to use away from a desk - i.e. in any comfortable place.) I like this better than its successor, the current black "Mediaboard Pro". Latter is heavier, a fingerprint magnet, and has periodic bluetooth blues - lags. I have not seen a comparable keyboard/trackpad combo for PCs - only the much more expensive DiNovo line. My regret is that I only bought 2 of these when they were clearance at local 24-hour big box store.

"NOT a PS3 Keyboard. A cheap piece of plastic." 2010-01-03
By Jake Ifraimov
Not what I expected.

It works, and feels beyond cheap, I think keyboards in the dollar store feel a little better. This is not a PS3 Keyboard, this can be used on PC as well.

Buy it if you don't really care and just want a keyboard. Don't buy it if you want a good one.

 "PS3 Wireless MediaBoard" 2009-12-26
By D. W. Pohlman (ohio)
Keyboard works awesome on Playstation 3, mousepad is awesome. No lag at all, it just works like it's supposed too. The keyboard also works on the Nintendo Wii, but the mousepad does not.

"Go this route instead of Bluetooth" 2009-09-13
By Shiznickels
I love this keyboard and swap it off from my laptop to my PS3 with ease, there is another version (the black one) that is bluetooth. Dont get it, you wont be able to use it with anything other than the PS3 easily.

 "Perfect for HTPC" 2009-07-22
By Matt S. (Fresno, CA USA)
I was so glad to find the RF version of this keyboard versus the more expensive bluetooth version. I built a small HTPC connected to my tv in the living room and there was no way i could deal with cables, also I needed a built in mouse of some sort because where can you have a proper mouse surface while sitting on the couch? I've owned this for about 2 months now, and have absolutely nothing but good to say about it. It works with everything: PC, Wii, 360 (apparently ps3 too, but i don't have one of those).

The on/off switch above the track pad is convenient for saving batteries, and only takes about half a second to sync up once you turn it on. The track pad is responsive and accurate, i cannot recall any jumping at all.

The slim form factor of this keyboard makes it very lightweight and extremely comfortable to set on my lap and type away, with no wrist pain at all.

I'm guessing because of it's light weight, a couple of drops, kicks or step ons would probably do it in pretty quickly, but just take care of your toys and i foresee no problems.

I put in a couple of generic costco AA batteries when i got it, and they've been running strong with no sign of wear after 2 months. And that even includes the half a dozen times i've left it on all night by accident.

If i have to find something critical to say, it would be #1, that there's no windows button, but i'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to map it. and #2, of course with any track pad, bigger would always be better, but honestly, i've got fat fingers and its been extremely easy to use.

In summary, this is an all around fantastic keyboard and i'm completely happy with my purchase.

"Not for serious FPS gamers" 2010-02-04
By Michael G. Lustig (NJ USA)
Clearly there is only one speaker and that is unsuitable for FPS games. At least you need stereo speakers or better yet a 5.1 headset. This headset comes with a wall plug-in charger that charges the headset but won't charge PS3 controllers. Why is that?

Audio quality is good enough and the boom mic is better than most cellphone Bluetooth headsets. I made the mistake of not buying a true gaming headset for about the same price. I can't recommend this product for serious FPS gamers.

 "wonderful product." 2010-01-19

works excellently, high quality sound, the only problem is ps3 doesnt fully support this product so at times after updates it doesnt input properly. other than that its a great product. extremely comfortable and very long lasting. much better than the ps3 regular mic.

 "best headset" 2009-12-17
By A. Reynolds (ROCHESTER, NY)
this headset is easily the most comfortable, the kind that you have to pinch onto your ear become uncomfortable after a little while, this one is fine. It can sit on either ear, too. I highly recommend it. Only downside is the price.

 "FANTASTIC!!!" 2009-05-13
By DonRSD (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
wow. this is the best headset ive ever had.

as far as ps3 their 'official bluetooth headset' sucks. it felt like i had razors in my ear after 15 minutes.

the only thing this logitech headset doesnt have that the official ps3 headset has is the ON SCREEN INDICATOR

the comfort of this headset is great. i dont even know its on my head.

it has full volume control AND a mute bottom on the headset (push the volume switch IN to mute)

dont fool yourself with other headsets, this is the one to get

"Connect to PC and PS3, very handy" 2009-12-05
By Hasan Erkaya (Boston MA)
The price in my opinion is WAYY too high compared to other products. You can just connect ANY OTHER WIRELESS KEYBOARD to a PS3 with the USB outlet...

BUT those other keyboards usually don't come with a mousepad on the side.

Overall, definitly recommend this keyboard if you have a nice speedy internet connection to your PS3.

"Workes great with Linux Ubuntu 9.10; $100 cheaper than logitech's diNovo Edge" 2009-11-10
By Olga Stewart (Florida couch)
Using it on a Fujitsu Laptop for my theater. etc from the couch :) No PS3 here just a computer with tons of cables coming off of it.

I sold my diNovo Edge which I loved with my theater when I sold my house. I like this keyboard better though; good thing I wanted to save a couple bucks!

Pros:

-Works just as well as the Logitech diNovo Edge keyboard but $100 cheaper.

-Works in about 1 1/2minutes with Linux Ubuntu 9.10 (the bluetooth is flawlessly easy)

-No charging needed (2 AA batteries have lasted a week so far and I'm typing with it now; also I have left it on over night half the days so it's been on for well over 100 hrs so far.

-No charger to place near the couch so I can reach the keyboard easily like with the "edge". I set the keyboard anywhere, which I think is my favorite thing about it so far.

-Mouse pad is exactly like a laptop or the diNovo edge keyboard PERFECT

-Way lighter than the diNovo

-batteries won't cost a fortune when the diNovo's lithium goes bad.

Cons:

-You have to use the shift key for Capital letters or keep track bc no light on the keyboard shows you when caps is on. Operating system can be setup to notify when CAPS is "on"

-No volume buttons so I set up hotkeys e.g. (ctrl & up arrow) under keyboard settings

-No built in hotkeys except PS3 stuff but problem solved above

-No back-lighting obviously to save battery life.

All in all I give it a 9.75 out of 10. Minus .25 because of the CAPS issue, but an LED would run the batteries down so I understand why there is no signifying caps light. I just have to trust when I come back to the keyboard it's not on caps. My best purchase rating of 2009 so far goes to this couch-man's dream machine.

UPDATE: 3 weeks (2 of which I left the power on to test) and it's still on the first set of batteries. No issues, I love this thing!

"Works well, small trackpad though." 2009-11-05
By Morgan
PROS

- Works well. Good range.

- The built-in trackpad really makes things easier.

- PRICE

CONS

- Left- and right-click keys by the space bar are useless to me, but they aren't necessarily a bad idea. I'd rather have a windows key though (or an option key if you own a mac)

- Small trackpad. (of course, I'm used to a huge trackpad on my laptop - literally almost four times as big as the one on this keyboard.)

I bought this one mostly because of its price. It's definitely a good deal for just a little over $30.

"Use as Directed? Nah! Great for PCs, Not Just Playstation!" 2009-10-17
By Frank Gagliardi
I needed a wireless keyboard to use with my jury-rigged home theater PC (HTPC) setup, which is a Samsung NC10-14GB Netbook connected to a Sony Bravia L-Series KDL-32L5000 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV. It's not a cutting-edge setup, but I pretty much just use it for streaming video, so it works fine. I didn't think that it would be so hard to find something that met my requirements, but my search did take longer than I thought it would.

I definitely wanted something with an integrated trackball or touchpad, to eliminate the need for a separate mouse. The keyboard could not require line-of-sight, so IR/laser options were out. The netbook already had built-in Bluetooth connectivity, so I wanted to take advantage of that, and really did not want deal with interference issues common with standard 2.4GHz wireless. Something made by a company I know and trust would be a bonus. Clearly, I had already limited my options.

I'm already a big fan of Logitech's products, happily using their Illuminated Ultrathin Keyboard and MX 518 Gaming Mouse with my desktop PC setup, so I figured looking at their offerings would be a good place to start. I found their Bluetooth keyboard selection, however, to be lacking. Their diNovo Edge Keyboard was too expensive, and required the use of docking station for recharging, and their diNovo Mini was too small. I also eliminated a bunch of no-name brands from here and other web sites, since none had really stellar reviews from other customers.

When I stumbled on Logitech's Mediaboard Pro here on Amazon, I was sold! Sure, it was designed for the Playstation 3, which I don't have, but Bluetooth is Bluetooth, right? It had an integrated touchpad, was from a reputable company, and wound up being same price as the no-name brands I found elsewhere. At this point, purchasing it was pretty much a no-brainer.

I've been using it for about a week now, and the performance has been great. It has worked perfectly from a range of about eight feet (not in line-of-sight) with no dropped keystrokes when typing. The touchpad is smooth and responsive. I was also happy to notice that it uses regular AA batteries (I'll be using SANYO eneloop Rechargeable Batteries when the included ones die out), and without a docking station like the diNovo Edge, it's easy just to stash away anywhere. I couldn't be any happier with this keyboard's performance!

But, if I had to find a fault with this keyboard, it would be that the glossy surface picks up fingerprints and smudges pretty easily, but they are easily removed with a soft cloth. Also, there is no numeric keypad, but I don't plan on entering data into spreadsheets with the thing, so no big loss there. Neither of these issues warranted the loss of star.

Since I don't have a Playstation 3, I have no way of testing this product for its intended use. But I can say that Logitech's Mediaboard Pro keyboard is a great choice for your HTPC!
