"Best GH Guitar Controller so far!" 2010-02-15
By PaleFace (Indianapolis, IN United States)
Even Sweeter Deal now the price keeps coming dropping! I got mine 1 week ago from Amazon. I have the LesPaul (tiny) bought GH5 w/Guitar (little bigger) bought B.C. Rich Warbeast (Full Size) now the Logitech. Slightly larger than the GH5 not at Giant as Warbest. I'm 5'4 prefect fit for me. I enjoy that's it's Wood has nice feel not to heavy to me. The GRYBO feel comfortable to reach. The GH5 I always seemed to palm hit the PAUSE instead to STARPOWER button. Logitech picks are you STARPOWER button I enjoy that feature much more. I would've liked the Wammy Bar to be a bit BEEFY'er. Seems thin to me in contrast the rest of the guitar. I didn't use the enclosed strap as had metal rings, don't want to be scratching up my new FAV guitar. Joy to use!

"Wireless controller very nice, but understand that slidder function does not work with Rock Band Game" 2010-02-08
By Fignot (NY, USA)
I just purchased this PS3 Guitar controller, very nice hardware. I use a PS3 Slim and play Rock Band.

My only substaintial complaint is that the slidder function does not work. I contacted Logitech support, and they informed me that the slidder funcion is not avialable with Rock Band games; this is a Guitar Hero function. Not owning Guitar Hero, I cannot personally verify this, but the assistant at Logitech claimed first hand knowledge of this (claims to play the game).

Also note that the slidder on this guitar is in place of the "solo" buttons (the narrow set of fret buttons that are near the guitar body) that are on the Rock Band stock guitar. This means that during a Solo (in Rock Band Games) you will need to keep strumming.

I have played for several hours now, and note the following:

The fret buttons are in a tighter cluster than on the Rock Band 2 Guitar, making it easier to stretch across the five notes, though this also means that there is a bit of getting used to this after playing the stock guitar. The fret buttons are also smaller than the Rock Band Guitar (they do not reach entirely across the neck) so I had to eliminate my habbit of fingering the very edge of the neck, like I did on my stock Rock band guitar. It also seems that it is important to finger the buttons squarely in order to prevent missed notes, though even when pressing the edge of the button, it will regiseter most of the time.

Guitar is heavy as others noted, but I play mostly sitting down, so makes no difference to my palying.

The neck is quite fat (compared to most real guitars), which was unexpected. But it is barely more fat than the stock plastic one.

Overall this is a great guitar, full size, more comfortable for me as an adult, extermely nice upgrade from the plastic one. It is unclear if this will have any influence on making me a better player, though the fret buttons being closer together should help here.

"FOR THE ULTIMATE, AND DEEP-POCKETED, PLAYER" 2010-01-15
By Scott Sherman (Maryland, USA)
If you're a wildly dedicated Guitar Hero superstar with money to burn, and you're looking to make your gameplay more "realistic," you probably can't do better than the Logitech PS3 Wireless Guitar Controller.

Logitech makes great hardware across the board, whether you're talking keyboards and mice, webcams, remote controls or gaming peripherals. Their products are always well built and generally excel in their ergonomics. The Wireless Controller is another example of their fine craftsmanship.

Of course, the question is - do you need to spend almost two big ones on a Guitar Hero replacement ax? That's something only you can answer. This is a bit of an odd bird in that, unlike other gaming peripherals, it adds no additional functionality to your gameplay. Unlike accessory gamepads for games like World of Warcraft, this Guitar doesn't give you extra buttons, programmable macros or an improved navigational experience. It's just a more expensive, more solid and more realistic version of what came in the box.

You won't necessarily rock any harder, but you may have more fun doing it with the Logitech controller. Just be prepared - this is a very solid piece of work, and quite heavy. Way weightier than a real acoustic guitar and more hefty than some electric ones, too. That makes the experience more genuine, but you're going to feel it after awhile. But then again, who said the life of a Rock God was easy?

The one bad engineering choice here was the use of a wireless protocol that requires you to plug a USB receiver into your Playstation rather than using its built-in Bluetooth. If you leave the small dongle in your PS3, it hangs there like a dead fish and constantly flashes, whether you're using the peripheral or not. It's very distracting when watching movies or playing games in a darkened room. Take the dongle out, though, and you risk losing it, making your expensive guitar worthless (until you get a replacement receiver from Logitech, that is. Assuming you can.).

Although this is a pretty expensive gaming peripheral, it's a five-star experience for the dedicated player willing to pay the price of admission. However, I'm docking it a star for making you use and keep track of that ridiculous receiver.

"Absolutely phenominal guitar for the PS3!" 2009-12-15
By Doc Stew (Schaumburg, IL)
This guitar is incredible! It is SOLID, and makes every other Guitar Hero guitar feel like cheap plastic junk. I've been playing guitar for 20 years, and every time I strap this guitar on, I feel like I'm playing real guitar. Granted - it's a bit smaller than a normal guitar, and has other obvious differences (buttons instead of strings, you know...) but it's very similar to the real thing.

I have found a new love for my Guitar Hero games because of this guitar. It just makes them all more FUN! The neck is solid, and the action is great - makes it easier to play the "hard" and "expert" levels when you can move your hand faster on the neck. The buttons don't make any noise, which is a big plus. The strummer is silent, the whammy bar is solidly built, and the start/select buttons are integrated into humbucker and bridge.

I also LOVE the touch sensitive neck slider! Works perfectly for World Tour! I have SO much more accuracy with the slider than with the regular buttons! No need to strum - just hit the part of the slider you need to and you're golden - super easy.

I also like that the USB dongle is tiny, unlike the other guitars I have for GH.

I've used this guitar a ton over the last few months, and the batteries show no sign of wearing out.

I can't recommend this guitar enough! Just get it!

"A solid entertainer and wonderful companion" 2009-11-19
By Nishant Agarwal (Calabasas, CA USA)
Wov! Wov! Wov! This guitar is awesome.

The build quality and packaging is great. The materials used are in fact really solid, polished and excellent worksmanship. There is good quality plastic, wood and metal like materials used.

Apart from cosmetic looks, the actual styling has been paid attention to so that it feels like real guitar and would be great to hold ergonomically as well as would last for years.

There are not moving pieces or weak strings etc. Thought has been paid to design so that the guitar can be even handled by my 13 month old daughter who has a blast enjoying it. The guitar plays wonderful and she claps and dances. Obviously she plays with it with me holding the guitar, as this guitar is bit heavy, which is ok cause

the build quailty is top notch.

Please keep in mind there is no bluetooth, but there is dongle for wifi (wireless acccess). That works for me, although it would have been nice to add that 10 dollar chip in it.

This was my first step into the Guitar gaming world, and is surely a pleasure to start with.

I use PS3. And this guitar has indeed made our evenings more enjoyable in the living room. Fun for my family.

 "Hard to control" 2010-02-01
By Skip Rohde (Asheville, NC)
The design of this wheel is pretty good. It's lightweight and sits in your lap. Paddles on the back of the wheel operate the gas and brakes. It's easy to plug in and use without re-arranging your living room. However, my wheel was extremely sensitive near the center. It was impossible to drive straight - just a little pressure on the wheel would cause the car to swerve all over the road. The normal PS3 controller gave me better control over the cars than this wheel did. Logitech has a good design, but they need to work on their electronics.

"Nice wheel, but no pedals?!?!?" 2009-12-29
By Wendy (Milwaukee, WI)
I bought this for a gift to replace my husbands older corded Logitech wheel. Only problem is that it does not have gas and brake "pedals", as descibed. All you have is the wheel/console itself. The only "pedals" seem to be the paddles behind the wheel, that one would think would be the shifters. We tried to configure the controls to use the paddles for the gas/brake, and the thumb buttons for shifting. Impossible to play GT5 like this. If you are used to having a real wheel and seperate pedals, there is alas still no wireless or bluetooth (PS3) option on the market. This one is being returned tomorrow.

 "Description is Incorrect" 2009-12-16
By Tiffany N. Wolford (Rainelle, WV)
Amazon's description is incorrect. There are no pedals included. I bought this as a Christmas gift and am going to wait until after Christmas to see if my husband wants to return it. I thought $50 was a great deal, especially because it was wireless, but when I got my package and realized there were no pedals, I was pretty disappointed. Amazon really needs to fix the product description and box contents information so customers know what they are getting.

"Amazon description and box contents is incorrect" 2009-10-02
By S. Arthur (NY, NY)
I purchased this item from Tiger Direct via Amazon. The description says that the wheel turns 900 degrees and comes with brake and gas pedals, which is incorrect. There are no pedals and the wheel only turns 200 degrees. I called Tiger Direct, who was surprised to realize that Amazon has this product described as such, as their direct website does not. This may not be important to you, but it was to me. Tiger Direct has provided me with a return label and is reimbursing me for the full price and shipping costs, which I'd give them credit for since this is apparently Amazon's mistake.

I did not try the product, and so I can't comment on it's functionality.

"Works for me at the right price!" 2009-07-14
By RexB (EasBay, CA)
This is my first driving wheel for games and got this on sale for $50 on a local store. What drew me to it further was the wireless feature. I didn't want wires in my living room so i figured this would work out perfectly and it did (there is still a wire for power though). It is simple and i can easily grab it and play with my PS3. I just wanted simple and that works with GT5 pro, RR7 and other demo driving games (Grid,NFS Prostreet etc.) I'm really happy with it and really didn't mind having the accelerator and break controls on the paddle shifters. I was really surprised how comfortable it is having it resting on my lap and i can seat comfortably and play on my recliners. The force feedback is very good as well, gives you the feeling that you're really driving in the game. Now i really enjoy playing with GT5 with cockpit view or just the head's up display. For the price and convenience i give it 5 stars. I was originally thinking of getting the G25 but that would require me to invest more on racing seats, wheel stand etc..This is a lot better option than the PS3 game pad driving. But for the amount of time i play with my PS3 this wheel is good enough for me.

"Not for serious FPS gamers" 2010-02-04
By Michael G. Lustig (NJ USA)
Clearly there is only one speaker and that is unsuitable for FPS games. At least you need stereo speakers or better yet a 5.1 headset. This headset comes with a wall plug-in charger that charges the headset but won't charge PS3 controllers. Why is that?

Audio quality is good enough and the boom mic is better than most cellphone Bluetooth headsets. I made the mistake of not buying a true gaming headset for about the same price. I can't recommend this product for serious FPS gamers.

wow. this is the best headset ive ever had.

as far as ps3 their 'official bluetooth headset' sucks. it felt like i had razors in my ear after 15 minutes.

the only thing this logitech headset doesnt have that the official ps3 headset has is the ON SCREEN INDICATOR

the comfort of this headset is great. i dont even know its on my head.

it has full volume control AND a mute bottom on the headset (push the volume switch IN to mute)

dont fool yourself with other headsets, this is the one to get

"Useful for Basic Text Chat" 2009-04-15
By Alfonso P. Posadas Jr. (Green Valley, CA United States)
Well what can I say beyond the fact that this particular model of keyboard is useful in basic text chat upon the Playstation 3 and its Playstation Network? Though it's a bit bulky considering that one is transitioning from the six axis / dualshock 3 controller to a PC worthy keyboard and something to get used to, but once it is done, one will be glad that you no longer have to use the time consuming controller-based text board.

"Really just a plain ol' keyboard" 2008-11-23
By J. Anoc
Pros:

-Durable

-Long cord (8 feet)

-You know it will work with your PS3

-Price

Cons:

-Plain design (but at least it's black)

-An included palm rest would have been nice

-No included instructions on what keys do what (check out the PS3 manual at the official PlayStation website for some internet browser keyboard shortcuts [Support->Manuals->PS3->System Software User's Guide])

Notes:

-You will still need to use a PS3 controller to use certain functions, as far as I can tell

-This might be obvious, but you can also use a USB mouse with PS3

-Now that I have a keyboard, I've been able to install and mess with Linux on my PS3. Try it, it's fun (but also frustrating).

Been sim racing for about 6 years now using an old ps2 Logitech wheel. THAT was a TOY! THIS is different! From the moment I opened the box I knew this product was for serious racers.  "Good choice for PC but abandoned by most PS3 developers" 2009-10-26
By C. Butler (Western N.Y. State)
Formula 1 2007 for PS3, even with its limited steering lock and 720p resolution, is a ton of fun with this wheel and the main reason I bought the G25. This is a very nice wheel and way better than the XBox 360 wheel (the G25 wheel shaft does not wobble), but unless you play PC games, SAVE YOUR MONEY because XBox 360 will not support the G25 and most PS3 game developers are ignoring the G25. The G25 has 900 degrees of steering lock, which is supported by only a handfull of PS3 games including: Codemaster's "GRID" for PS3 and Gran Turismo HD (obsolete), Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (not mentioned in the manual, so I don't know if it really works), Midnight Club Los Angeles (haven't played it), Need for Speed: Undercover and Need for Speed: Shift. Many of the Electronic Arts games for PS3 also support the 6-speed shifter, and force feedback, but I don't think that any of these games are rendered at a resolution higher than 720p while their counterparts on the XBox 360 are sporting 1080i and 1080p (apparently Sony has yet to grow a spine.) The force-feedback is VERY strong, but there's no rumble effect and the 6-speed shifter is junk because it does not sense the position of the shifter knob (there is only a button at the far end of each of the 6 shifter positions) so you can put it into gear, but if you don't hit the button at the back of the slot, the game doesn't know that you shifted. Only one game I've tried so far (Need for Speed: Shift) actually makes use of the clutch pedal. There are many PS2 games that support the G25's 900-degree and force feedback functions (according to the Logitech website), but I haven't tried any of them. Perhaps Gran Turismo 5, if it's ever released, will make full use of this wheel.

The multi-platform (PC, PS3, XBOX 360) Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S wheel is now in limited production and can force many games currently with limited steering lock into 540 or 900 degrees of steering lock. This means that like DIRT 2 will drive more like an off-road game and less like a Formula 1 game. If you're like me, and already bought a G25 and/or the XBox 360 wheels, don't dispair, you can always use them as spares when your buddies come over.

"Best Rock Band 2 Mic" 2009-12-10
By Krystal Ng (bay area, ca)
Bought this mic for Rock Band 2 awhile ago and it easily out-performs the one that comes with the Rock Band 2 bundle...even my friends are starting to notice the difference.

Over the course of the past year I noticed while singing on the bundled mic while over at a friend's place that it has issues picking up lower voice ranges...generally the lower your voice is, the more inaccurate that mic will become in picking up your notes during the game. I sang the same way using both mics and with the Rock Band mic, I scored a 74% on expert and barely passed, but with the Logitech mic I hit 98% and pretty much cruised the whole way. I brought over the Logitech mic to try the difference and everyone noticed a marked improvement in their performance.

I also noticed that the Rock Band mic misses notes here and there even if you sing them...much like their guitars will randomly just miss a note you know you've hit, and why many are switching over to other guitars as well.

Great mic by a quality company, I've not looked back since.

This works with Garageband in Mac, although you have to change some settings in the Preferences. The sound quality was pretty good, although I'm sure it's nothing compared to a real mic. It's way better than the built in mic or a video camera. What I'm getting at is its great for 22 dollars but not something you want to record an album with.

It works with Garageband, Windows voice recorder, and PS3 Rock band. I haven't tested with anything else.
